Why it matters

Food as part
of recovery

For most of us, food is one more thing we manage for everyone else. What’s in the fridge, what the kids will actually eat, what fits the diet, the allergy, the mood, the time you don’t have. It’s planned, shopped for, cooked, cleared away — on repeat, mostly invisibly, mostly by women.

We don’t think rest is only about doing less. It’s about not having to think. So for four days, food simply appears — at the right time, beautifully made, with nothing for you to decide, plan, or clean up afterwards.

“Nourishment without negotiation. That’s the whole idea.”

Every dish below is designed to be restorative as well as delicious — seasonal, largely Scottish-sourced, and built around the kind of long, unhurried meals that let you actually taste what you’re eating for once.
